Dinner at the Table

When was the last time you and your family all had dinner together?

Eating dinner at the table used to be a common occurrence in many households. Times have changed and so have our habits. The truth is that many parents are working outside the home, commuting long hours, and getting home late. We’ve all gotten busier and it’s rare to have families all sit at the table to share a meal.

My husband and I have made it a priority to have dinner with the kids every night. It helps that our schedules coincide in order to make that happen. We are so grateful that we can do this. You see, our kids are still at that age where they love to talk. Sometimes too much. But we want to take advantage of this time and spend time with them and listen to what they have to say.

So our time eating dinner is precious. Not only do we get to share a meal, but we get to spend quality time with our kids. Time really flies by as they say. One day we may not be able to do it any longer.

Think about your day. Are you able to sit down at the table with your family and share a meal? Is there anything you can do to arrange your schedules in a way that you can be intentional about spending quality time with each other?

Think about it.
