What is your Red Sea moment?

Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever

Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you see no way out? Are you at a place where you’ve done all you possibly can? A situation so difficult that only a miracle would suffice.

Moses experienced this time and time again. God chose Moses to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt and into the land of Canaan. After the Egyptians agreed to let the people go, they quickly regretted that decision. The Pharaoh then sent his chariots, six hundred of them, to go after the Israelites. When the Israelites realized that the Egyptians were after them, they were terrified. Who wouldn’t be? Imagine thinking your salvation has arrived and then all of a sudden your enemies are behind you and there’s no way out ahead. It’s a moment where only God could make a way. And a way he made.

Let’s back track a little bit. See, the Israelites were terrified, and in their fear they began to wish they would’ve just stayed put back in Egypt. They thought they would have been better as slaves. At least they would be alive. Isn’t that our nature? Even when we’ve seen the hand of God work in our lives time and time again, when we’re faced with a Red Sea moment, we freak out. We suffer from temporary amnesia and forget how many times he’s saved us, provided, answered our prayers, and worked miracles.

I’ve experienced many of those moments in my life. I’ve been confronted by situations with relationships, with finances, and many other areas where I know that only God’s hand can move. And for a brief moment (sometimes longer) I freak out. I see the enemies behind me and no way out in front of me. Yet time and time again, I experience his miracles. Time and time again he shows me that he is faithful.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the people to get moving! Pick up your staff and raise your hand over the sea. Divide the water so the Israelites can walk through the middle of the sea on dry ground.” Exodus 14:15-16

Sometimes our fear paralyzes us. We want to give up and quit. The lord told Moses to tell the people to “get moving”. Do you feel stuck? The enemies are behind you and no way out ahead. Get moving! The Lord is faithful. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He sees you right where you are. Get moving and see him move in your circumstance.
